One-Day Workshop Part 1

Management 3.0 Workout: One-Day Workshop (Part 1)

While I am frantically working to finish my new book (with three copy editors and fifty proof readers) I’m also developing ideas for the new one-day workshop that is part of the global book tour.

These are my ideas so far, based on the first 30% of my book:

  • I want participants to inspire each other with stories at the start and at the end of the day. They should be stories of bad and good management. We will probably ask people to prepare their stories before they come to the workshop.
  • Obviously, there should be kudo cards (maybe paired with small gifts) and possibly a kudo wall to help people compliment each other on their contributions.
  • I’d like people to work on a personal map of the person sitting next to them. It will be interesting to see the effect this has on their conversations throughout the day. 🙂
  • There is already a delegation board for the workshops on the website to empower the participants. However, instead of just describing it we will actually use it, and adapt it where needed, throughout the day.
  • It will be nice if, at the end of the day, we end up with a work exposition, illustrating our shared purpose as a group, and containing the best stories and artifacts that we collected before and during the workshop.
  • I intend to discuss the famous handbooks of Valve, Zappos, Netflix, and IDEO. And I think it will be useful to discuss core and wish values and maybe even contribute to a new culture book for Happy Melly.

Well, that’s all for now folks. As I said, these ideas are based on the first 30% of the book. Next week I’ll offer the 2nd part of my brain dump.

Note: My plans are still developing, so please don’t hold it against me when the workshops (starting end of May) are a bit different from what I described here. We’ll adapt!

Registration is open for seven countries. Click on the country name to download a flyer:

Finland, Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, United Kingdom and Bulgaria. (Registration for the United States and Poland opens next week.)

BTW, the workshop in München is already almost fully booked, thanks to the efforts of Jürgen Dittmar and his “Stammtisch”. (See his video interview here.) Awesome!

Hope to see you during my book tour!
